Why Traditional Diets Fail Every Time

How many different diets have you tried in the past that simply haven't worked? What makes diets fail so miserably? It's incredible how many people still teach the myth that eating tiny amounts of food will bring about weight loss. The truth is that when we restrict our food intake we run the risk of actually gaining weight. We are designed to view less food consumption with starvation. By reducing the quantity of food we eat we trigger our body's starvation preservation mode.

All the weight loss studies show that normal weight and healthy people usually eat a diet that contain lots of complex carbohydrates (like fruits and veg, cereals etc) and most people who are overweight follow diets that are high in fat and starchy carbs. Understanding what studies tell us about what contributes to weight loss is important when designing a weight loss plan. One of the best ways to lose weight is to adopt a low carb diet where you control just how much carbs you eat in a day, but don't worry too much about the other foods. You still need to make sure you don't overeat, by keeping your portion sizes down, and make sure you get a good proportion of healthy nutritious foods which are also low in saturated fats.

Chances are there are habits that contributed to the weight gain and the weight gradually crept up over time rather than overnight. Because it took a long time to gain the weight, it will also take time to lose weight in a healthy fashion. People who haven't figured out the balance between watching what you eat, drinking lots of water, getting regular exercise and getting plenty of sleep are the next customers to the marketing companies pushing the current fad diet, weight loss pill or quick weight loss tips. All it takes is a quick browse round your local newsagent to find the latest fad diet or weight loss plan. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it's very easy to believe that there indeed magic weight loss pills to take the weight off very quickly, than to believe that we have the ability to improve our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight is in the dim and distant past.

Diets are doomed to failure because they do not encourage a healthy balance within your body. Most diets are doomed to failure because some are designed towards making someone or some company rich rather than producing a weight loss plan or program that will genuinely encourage a person to lose weight.

It is a known fact that people who are carrying excess weight are more likely to succumb to diseases and other serious health problems as a result of being overweight. Too much fat in your diet is a major contributor to unnecessary body fat.

People have been taught for far too long that they need to eat a lot less or count every calorie they consume to be able to shed those excess pounds. The truth of the matter is that our bodies know perfectly well how to manage weight assuming that we give them what they need to stay healthy - like making sure you get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, eat healthy and nutritious foods, and regular exercise.

Getting rid of those extra pounds is not simply about watching what you eat, you also need to avoid eating in excess. Moderate portions of healthy foods are crucial to losing weight. It's also important that you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies were made to move!
